Recap
Women won silver lead by a silver from Victoria Coates. Maddy McDonald's 1st team OUA all-star 7th place and 3rd rookie was also a big help. The men finished an impressive 4th place lead by Taylor Reid's 7th place and Lionel Sanders' 9th place.

As you can see by the video and pictures posted on our facebook page, this was a tough and muddy course.

It was a historic day for the Maroon and Grey with the second best OUA finish ever for the Marauder men (best being a 2nd place in 2000), and the second best OUA points finish ever for the Marauder women (best being 38 points in 2010).

If the overall teams were scored (Men scores + Women scores), McMaster would have picked up second overall:

Guelph 43 Points
McMaster 168 Points
Windsor 184 Points
Queens 247 Points

OUA XC 2012 Course Preview

Unfortunately OUA cross country this year is on a course never run before, and is unavailable for viewing until the day before the meet. This presents a small issue for those who like to visualize the race in advance. So we at MacTrack made an attempt to leverage the internet and put together everything we an find about the about the course.

Official Course Map

Course Flyover

It looks like a reasonably flat course with the main hill in the south-east corner at about 1500m into the loop (a Category 5 climb).

The last thing Rory said before we got off the bus, was that their was no need for everyone to get caught up trying to make a statement about the men's team. Woops, sorry Rory. With a 4th place finish and a 13 second time spread between 1st and 5th on the team, the boys have clearly stated that they aren't to be taken lightly.

Marauder XC Invite Results

Full Results

Lots of impressive results from the highschool athletes that attended the McMaster Cross Country held meet yesterday in Churchill Park.

Winning the Senior Boys 5k was Ben Preisner of Bishop Reding in an impressive 15:13.80. 4 guys were under 16 minutes is that race. Winning the Senior girls was Westdale's Phoebe Cseresnyes in 18:00.10 for 5k. Another result of note was the winner of the midget boys 5k, a young Ian MacKinnon, brother of Maruder veteran Chelsea MacKinnon.

Thanks everyone for coming out and making it another successful year! See you all next year.

Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational 2012 - Recap

The women keep their perfect season alive with a win at the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront. The win comes without the Cambridge native star Lindsay Carson, as Victoria Coates steps up to a second place finish, rookie Madeline MacDonald makes her debut with a 7th place finish, and the veteran Jill Wyman places 15th.

The men at first glance were weaker than last year with a 6th place finish to last year's 3rd place. After taking a deeper look it's interesting to see that the top 5 had the exact same time average as last year. This year however, several faster US schools showed up and stole the show. Lionel lead the way once again with a 10th place position, followed closely by another rookie debut in Connor Darlington. Having a tremendous performance to get under 26 minutes was Taylor Forbes.
