Pre-CIS Interview: Sarah Haliburton - Nursing, Cats, and Advice on Lap Counters



Sarah Haliburton has just two months left in her Nursing degree and will be looking to end her career as a Marauder with a blaze in the 3000m at the CIS championships March 8-10, hosted by the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. Sarah is currently ranked 6th in CIS in the 3000m, and will be racing in the event alongside teammates Lindsay Carson and Victoria Coates. Sarah competed in the 1500m and 4x800m at last year's CIS championship. Sarah was 5th at OUA championships this past weekend in the 3000m

MacTrack: How do you feel about your season so far?
Sarah Haliburton: My season was a bit rough to start but I have seen improvements in Feb. [I] enjoy running [the] 3k...first time "trying it out" this season

MT: What are your goals for the CIS championship?
SH: To improve from last year....which should prove easy since I was last.

MT: What's a typical day in your life this season as a student athlete?
SH: 

- Wake-up, eat, feed cat and go to work
-Work from 0900-1400 at NCCMT or Nursing office
-Lunch
-Maybe go to class in afternoon or study/work on assignments
-Run at 5pm
-Eat, work some more, feed cat, sleep

MT: Do you have a mantra that you will telling yourself in the race?
SH: Just don't look at the lap count 

MT: What do you contribute your success this season in?
SH: Attempting to relax

MT: What are your running plans for the future?
SH: Want to join the running room walk/run group next year
