For the past couple years, the Marauder Squad has participated in a movement called Go Shoeless for Right to Play. Along with other teams at McMaster, we go barefoot to raise awareness and funds for children who do not have safe areas to play. This typically falls at the Western International Cross Country Meet, which is a staple in the autumn racing schedule. This year, we hope to take the initiative one step further, by facilitating a Used Shoe Drive!
We will be collecting used athletic/running shoes on Saturday, September 24th, 2016 throughout race day at the Western International Cross Country Meet at the Thames Valley Golf course. Please bring your used shoes to the Marauder Tent anytime on Saturday, which is typically located behind the start line. We hope to get all other teams, officials and spectators involved by inviting them to contribute as well!
Right to Play is an organization that works both locally and internationally, using sport and play as tools to enhance child development in areas of disadvantage. The shoes we collect will go to the Eva Rothwell Centre in downtown Hamilton, which services inner-city youth and children. Many of our team members have participated in programming at Eva Rothwell, and can personally attest to the great work they do!

HUGE Weekend at BU Invitational
BU David Hemery Invitational
Last Thursday morning, most of
the McMaster Track crew loaded onto the bus for the drive down to Boston for
the 2016 BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational. The Marauders have competed there the past few years, however this is the first time they sent a whole bus
load of competitors.
As in the past, the BU
track seems to have a bit of magic in its ability to bring out fantastic
performances. When the pieces fall into place at the right time, all the hard
work and preparation can result in blazing personal bests.
This weekend beat last
year's record of 13 Personal Bests in one weekend, this year there were 18 PBs!!
Especially exciting was Connor Darlington's New School Record in the 3000m, breaking the previous 42-year old record by 0.4 seconds!
